|
(Miami-Dade County, FL) – Miami-Dade County residents and small business owners looking for affordable health insurance can get information about a new product introduced this year by Miami-Dade County. Miami-Dade Blue, co-designed by BlueCross BlueShield of Florida, Inc. (BCBSF) and the County’s Office of Countywide Healthcare Planning (OCHP), is a medical insurance plan that offers comprehensive coverage with affordable monthly premiums to County residents and small business owners who are struggling with the high cost of insurance, but do not qualify for government programs. Please call Dade Blue tomorrow anytime or visit their website at http://www.echealthinsurance.com/dadeblue.htm at 888-803-5917. Miami-Dade Blue becomes available on July 1, 2009. Commissioner Rolle is holding a Health Insurance Forum on that day. He is asking uninsured individuals and small business owners to attend the event, at William H. Turner Technical Arts High School, 10151 NW 19 Avenue, on July 1, 2009 so they can register for the plan and speak to BCBSF representatives. It will take place from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the school’s cafeteria. This forum is open to anyone who lives or works in Miami-Dade County. Enrollees must bring picture identification in order to complete the application. Submitting an application begins the process for possible coverage; BCBSF representatives will be onsite to answer questions regarding the plan. Applicants will be notified of eligibility. Miami-Dade Blue offers a wide range of services, including office visits, surgery, hospitalization, outpatient surgery, pharmacy and dental coverage, to individuals under the age of 65, and small businesses of up to 50 employees. “We have more than 600,000 people who are uninsured in Miami-Dade; Miami-Dade Blue offers an affordable option for these individuals who want insurance but have not yet found a means to afford it,” said Commissioner Rolle. “This registration event can be the first step for individuals, families, and small businesses to see if they are eligible for low-cost, quality coverage.” For more information on the event, please contact Commissioner Rolle’s office at 954-571-4177.
